UWF Historic Trust

The UWF Historic Trust opened its multi-cultural resource center in 2013. The building was previously known as the Beacon Building and was funded by a $605,000 gift from Gulf Power Company. The center contains interactive multimedia exhibits and a digital recording studio. The museum also has a variety of events and activities for visitors to enjoy. This is an excellent place to host a wedding or a corporate event. UWF Historic Trust  is located at 120 Church St, Pensacola, FL 32502.

The University of West Florida has an exciting plan for downtown Pensacola's Historic District. Announced at the Museum of Commerce in the city's downtown, the new plan involves transforming the area into a cultural, educational, and tourist attraction. The UWF is working with Bill Haley Sharpe Design to create a design that will showcase the area's historical and archeological assets. The project will restore 28 properties. The University of West Florida's CEO, Jerry Maygarden, says the plan will increase historical tourism numbers in the city. He adds that Pensacola will compete with historic cities like Savannah, Charleston, and Gettysburg in historical tourism.

The UWF Historic Trust also operates several venues that are ideal for a variety of events. One of the most unique and exciting spaces is the Voices of Pensacola multicultural resource center. The Center is located in the former Pensacola City Hall, which was built in 1907. Inside, you can experience an array of changing exhibits and interactive experiences. You may even get to hear some of the city's first people speak! A great read
